Stubborn Fat Destruction
The original Fat freezing, which we do not do, was a technology to permanently banishe stubborn fat. The idea behind fat freezing was the brainchild of two doctors, Dr. Rox Anderson and Dr. Dieter Manstein, who are both associated with the Wellman Center of Photomedicine, affiliated with the Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. The two doctors were both familiar with a strange phenomenon known as “popsicle panniculitis”, which has to do with the loss of cheek fat that occurs while sucking on a frozen popsicle. At the time there was also a recently documented case where a woman who rode naked in the cold weather on a horse, reported the loss of fat in her inner thighs. We’re not sure why anyone would ride a horse naked in the freezing cold, but it is certainly interesting.
Both cases documented a connection between the exposure of an area of the body to cold temperature and resulting fat loss in the area. From this correlation, Dr. Anderson and Dr. Manstein hypothesised that perhaps applying extreme cold to fat could result in fat loss as well.
With trial and error Dr. Anderson and Dr. Manstein discovered that fat was actually much more sensitive to cold than nerves, skin, muscle and other body tissue. The doctors were able to pinpoint a precise temperature that served to maximise the destruction of fat, while leaving all of the other structures unharmed, and thus the concept of cryolipolysis or fat freezing was created.
When fat cells are exposed to cold temperatures they become terminally injured and gradually die. Over time, the body seeks to remove these dying cells, with absolutely no increase in either cholesterol levels or lipid levels in the blood. Further research revealed that approximately 25% of fat in the abdomen was reduced in only one treatment. Additional treatments have been shown to further reduce the fat by nearly the same amount, which is very promising for those looking to reduce fat.
Our equipment is designed to specifically kill off fat nd cellulite cells which are then drained away by your body’s natural lymphatic system.
We can treat numerous areas including upper arms, abdomen, flanks, thighs, hips, chin and the back. Our unique body contouring sytsem does not freeze fat, it uses low temperatures to permanently destroy fat cells and usually gives instant results of a 3 to 5cm loss in the area treated. It also improves skin tone and makes the skin firmer and reduces stretch marks.
This has been clinically proven to be the most effective way or permanently eliminating fat cells. Being non invasive, there are no needles involved and it is pain free. Unlike older machines there is no suction involved and an area of over 12 times the size of traditional handsets can be treated. Our treatment provides effective results with no downtime, meaning you can get on with your day to day life straight away.

What about after my treatment?
To achieve maximum results we recommend increasing water intake to at least 2 litres of water a day. This helps your body flush out the crystallised lipids in the fat cells. Avoid any exercise and heat, such as sunbeds, saunas, steam rooms, hot showers or baths and reduce alcohol consumption for 24 hours after any treatment. Thereafter we recommend doing an hours exercise every week and maintaining a healthy eating programme. Lymphatic massage can help the lymphatic system naturally eliminate the fat cells.
When will I see a change?
Results are normally seen immediately, with maximum benefits normally achieved within 12 weeks.
What is the difference between losing weight by dieting and by cryolipolysis?
With dieting the fat cells simply shrink. This means of you slip up and over indulge the cells increase in size again. With cryolipolysis the fat cells are crystallised and broken down and eliminated naturally and they cannot regenerate. We would always advocate a healthy diet and lifestyle and taking exercise as a way of maintaining the shape you desire.
Over time, layers of dead skin and oils build up on the surface of your skin. This barrier blocks the pores, preventing product nutrients from being absorbed into the skin. A deep cleanse is recommended every month since your skin goes through a renewal cycle every 28 days.

Dermapen is a revolutionary micro-needling treatment that stimulates the skin’s healing response encouraging the production of precious growth factors, collagen and elastin for a naturally rejuvenated, revitalised and regenerated skin. It offers unparalleled collagen induction therapy by harnessing the body's innate ability to re-grow and repair the skin where a series of needles penetrate the skin causing thousands of micro injuries at a vertical angle. It promotes scarless healing and natural collagen reproduction, similar to fractional laser treatments, IPL or chemical peel treatment, but without the side effects and downtime. Dermapen can effectively treat hard-to-reach places like around the eyes, nose and lips.
It is ideal for:
surgical, acne and trauma scars,
Does a Dermapen ™ treatment hurt?
There are two types of Dermapen™ treatments. The first type calls for the use of an aesthetic cream to numb the area, to allow for a deeper, more aggressive Dermapen™ treatment. The second type involves using Dermapen™ at a shallower depth, eliminating the need to pre-treat the skin with an aesthetic cream. Depending on the patient’s skin and the type of treatment provided, the skin may appear red and irritated for a few days. Specially formulated creams can be used before and after a Dermapen™ treatment to minimise this effect.
How quickly are results visible?
Visibly rejuvenated skin can generally be seen after just 6-8 days following a procedure, with results further improving over time. A course of Dermapen™ sessions is usually recommended to achieve optimal results; however, improvement is usually noticeable after just one treatment.
Is Dermapen™ safe?
Injections are not a part of a Dermapen™ treatment, so allergic reactions and side-effects are unlikely to occur. The procedure is minimally invasive, which means that there is virtually no downtime and the healing process is quick. Aftercare is also very simple and can be fully administered at home.
Are there any side effects or risks associated with skin needling?
Side effects experienced with Dermapen™ will usually subside within 48 hours. They include erythema, stinging, itching and tightness of the skin.
My face has a few slightly raised red and itchy lesions today, is that normal and something the client may experience?
Yes absolutely normal. Some people just get red and dry skin, others get quite flaky dry and red skin, others tend to break out in lots of lumps like pimples but they go away in 3 days. So yes, it is normal and is just the body purging itself of toxins.
What can be expected after Dermapen ™ treatment?
Erythema and redness, severity of which will depend upon the aggressiveness of the performed treatment.
Red or pink hue similar to moderate sunburn may persist. There may be some noticeable swelling on the second day.
Skin may still retain a pink hue, or return to normal colour. Swelling subsides.
Can you have the treatment in conjunction with IPL hair and/or rejuvenation settings and what should be the time gap? E.g. if a client has just had hair removal this week with IPL can they have Dermapen ™ needling next week or even the same week?
Not IPL rejuvenation. The client would get scar tissue from a double wound healing response. They could do pigment, but really why would they need to do this when the Dermapen™ provides the versatility? 4 week intervals if they absolutely had to.
What if they have had electrolysis? Is this still okay to use the Dermapen ™?
Again this is fine to use but it is best to let their skin heal for a week or 2 or they will be more sensitive. It shouldn’t be a problem but the pain levels they experience during the treatment may be greater. This of course depends on the electrolysis practitioner because some tend to cause more damage than others to the skin and therefore require more healing time.
How many Dermapen™ will I need?
The number of treatments required depends on the type of treatment needed.
Collagen Induction Therapy (Facial Rejuvenation: 4 to 6 treatments
Acne Scarring: 6 to 10 treatments.
Stretch Marks: 10 -12 treatments
How many treatments a year can someone have? I understand its every 4-6 weeks between treatments?
6-8 weeks, a course of 4-8 on average. As Dermapen™ results are essentially permanent; i
Should Botox users wait 6 weeks before having a Botox treatment?
Clients who have had Botox treatments should ideally wait 2 weeks either side of having Dermapen™ treatment.
